(IID Board of Directors held a special meeting Tuesday)....During the meeting the board unanimously approved four separate agreements.

The agreements are to build new and upgrade existing electrical substations that will energize development projects in the City of Indio, through an innovative and new joint electric financing authority. Imperial Irrigation District Board President Alex Cardenas said they took another monumental step toward ensuring that IID's system will meet growing opportunities for the City of Indio. He said the agreements took months of creative collaboration at the City of Indio and IID. The two entities recently formed the Indio Electric Financing Authority, which is governed by a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement to provide and enhance electrical service within the territorial boundaries of the City of Indio. Through the partnership, the Authority will procure the necessary ifrastructure and IID will be responsible for the procurement, design, engineering, construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the projects to the point of connection
