(Fire Prevention week is underway)....It began Sunday with an open house by the El Centro Fire Department.

It ends on Sunday October 14 with an Open House by the Brawley Fire Department. The Brawley Department says they are partnering with the National Fire Protection Association, the official sponsor of Fire Protection Week for more than 100 years. This year's campaign, Cooking Safety Starts With You. Pay attention to fire prevention. According to the NFPA, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries in the United States. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking fires and deaths. They offer some tips. Always keep a close eye on what you are cooking. Set a timer to remind you that you are cooking.
