Flag Football has been an official CIF-San Diego sport starting this fall and the Valley is embracing the girls sport.

Seven Imperial Valley High Schools have fielded varsity teams and they have been playing games every week during the season. There are many differences between the version the boys play such; as 7 players on the field. All players are eligible receivers. There are two 20-minute halves. The clock does not stop except for a time out or injury until the final 2 minutes of a half. There is no kicking involved and defensive players must remove the flag of a ball carrier instead of tackling her. The ladies play with great intensity and considerable skill.

KXO AM 1230 will broadcast the Varsity Flag Football game between Southwest and Central on Tuesday night. Jon Driffill and Carroll Buckley will be on the air at 7:15 p.m. with a 7:30 kick-off. The game will also be available on the KXO YouTube channel.
