(County Fire responded to two fires Monday)...The first was a 3 alarm Brush fire.

Deputy Battalion Chief Salvador Flores said the fire quickly went back down to a 2 alarm fire. It was a brush fire near Winterhaven. The Chief said the call came in at just after 4 in the afternoon. The fire went to a second alarm after word was received a structure was threatened. The structure turned out to be an abandoned structure. Two County Fire Stations responded to the fire, along with Yuma, Rural Metro and Holtville Fire. The fire was out by 6:40 pm. No injuries were reported. Other than the abandoned structure, damage was thick brush. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Later Monday night a Haystack fire was reported near Seeley, close to the Westside School. Chief Flores said the haystack was quickly knocked down and it is currently burning itself out. He said it is expected to smolder until the end of the week. No injuries were reported and the cause is being investigated.
