(Still cleaning up from the storm)...The storm swept through the county September 1st and 2nd.

A lot of damage was reported. Hardest hit was Niland. They were hit by major flooding from the mountains and desert, compounbded by a major canal  that flooded as well. The community is continuing to clean up the debris. A collection center for the debris has been set-up at the Niland Chamber of Commerce. They are accepting all the debris cleaned up by residents. They will not accept hazardous or flammable materials. They are also accepting donations to assist Niland residents. To make a donation, contact the Niland Chamber of Commerce. Donations do not have to be all monetary. They can also use non perishible food, cleaning supplies and volunteers, Donations can be taken to the Niland Cooling Center or Desert RV in Brawley.
