U. S. Border Patrol agents seized more than a quarter-of-a-million dollars' worth of methamphetamine last Friday.

At about 3:30 a.m. on August 25, a small SUV approached the Highway 86 Checkpoint. Agents noticed that the driver appeared nervous and referred the vehicle to secondary inspection where a canine team alerted to the SUV. Agents were than able to locate over 157 pounds of methamphetamine in a hidden compartment in the rear of the vehicle. The meth has a street value estimated at over $236,000. The driver, a 33-year-old lawful permanent resident, was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
