The numbers are released by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. July unemployment was recorded at 17.7%, a slight increase from the 17% reported in June., and above the estimated 15.2% a year ago. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 4.8% for California and 3.8% for the Nation during the same period. In july, there were 12,300 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 69,500. According to the report, Imperial County has the highest unemployment rate in the state.
