The National Weather Service (NWS) has extended the Excessive Heat Warning through Friday.

The subtropical high will continue to remain over the desert southwest through the remainder of this week, allowing near record temperatures to continue. However, there are indications that an area of low pressure will migrate northward from Mexico this weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms. There is also the potential for winds in excess of 35 mph affecting western Imperial County and eastern San Diego County. NWS warns that there is a 10-20% chance of isolated thunderstorms Saturday in the Imperial Valley.
