(Two fires reported Sunday).....County Fire responded to a Brush fire.

Deputy Chief Salvador Flores says the fire was reported on the East side of the Highline Canal, between Taecker Road and Highway 78. Because of the terrain and high temperatures, the fire went to 4 alarms. Respoinding to the alarm was the Brawley Fire Department, Calipatria Fire Department Westmorland Fire Department, Holtville Fire Department, El Centro, NAF Fire, County Fire station 3 in Seeley and a Battalion Chief. The American Red Cross and the Imperial Irrigation District also assisted. The Deputy Chief said the fire spread thru the brush, and at one time threatened a mobile home. Crews were able to save the structure. Despite temperatures over 100 degrees and the terrain, no injuries were reported. The fire was contained to six acres, and was out by Sunday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Another fire was reported Sunday. This fire was at 34 East Second Street in Downtown Calexico. Imperial County and El Centro Fire provided mutual aide. Very little information has been released on the Calexico fire.
