(Sugar Valley Energy secures a commitment)....Sugar Valley Energy is an advanced low-carbon sugarcane to ethanol and power facility.

They recently announced local farmers had pledged to produce 12,000 acres of sugarcane to support initial cultivation needs.. They have secured letters of intent from Imperial Valley farmers to grow the sugarcane needed to support its initial feedstock production schedule. President/CEO Dave Rubenstein of the parent company California Ethanol and Power, said local farmers who were interested in a profitable and stable long-term crop represented the driving force behind the Sugar Valley Energy project. He said interest continues to be as strong in 2023 as it was in 2013. He said the sugarcane plantings will take place in phases, which will encompass an advanced bioethanol refinery producing as much as 75 million gallons annually, and a power island that will produce 43 megawatts of bioelectricity as well as pipeline grade biogas.
