A load of Brussels Sprouts hid methamphetamine.

A ton of meth. On June 2, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Calexico Cargo Facility encountered a tractor-trailer with a cargo manifested as Brussels Sprouts. Following an initial inspection, the 51-year-old driver was referred to secondary inspection for further examination. A non-intrusive inspection indicted irregularities and a CBP K-9 team screened the cargo. The dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A total of 148 packages were found concealed in the floor and roof of the trailer. The packages contained a ton of methamphetamine with a street value of over $4.3. The driver was detained and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
