(CBP officers eize $1 million worth of narcotics)....The narcotics were found in separate incidents.

Both were at the Trusted Traveler or SENTRI lanes. The seizure were at two San Diego Ports. The first incident was late last week at the San Ysidro Port. At 5:15 am a 71 year old man was crossing the border in the SENTRI lane. The inspecting officer noticed tampering on the spare tire in the pick up. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area. Officers conducted a full scan of the vehicle. A K-9 was brought in and animal alerted to the spare tire.. Customs and Border Protection officers found 54 packages. They weighed over 49 pounds and tested positive for methamphetamine, with a street value of over $322,000. The next day, at the Otay Mesa Port, at 4:50 in the morning, a sedan in the SENTRI lane was being driven by a 21 year old male. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area. Officers discovered packages hidden in the back seat. They retrieved 20 packages, that tested positive for cocaine. The packages weighed over 52 pounds, with a street value of over $827,000. The CBP seized the vehicles and narcotics. The two drivers were arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
