U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers found over two tons of methamphetamine hidden in a load of radishes.

At about 7:15 p.m. on January 31, 2023, a tractor trailer with a shipment manifested as radishes, approached the Calexico Port of Entry. The 24-year-old driver and the big rig were referred to secondary inspection where a non-intrusive inspection was conducted. A CBP K-9 Team alerted to the truck and a further inspection was carried out. Officers located 1,590 packages concealed in the load of radishes. The packages contained a total of over 4,500 pounds of methamphetamine. The estimated street value of the drugs is nearly $5.5 million. This was the second shipment manifested as radishes that contained a large amount of narcotics.
