(Imperial County has entered the fun season)....The Niland Sportsman and Tomato Festival was held over the weekend.

The Annual Star Wars Day was held at the Buttercup Ranger Station. This week it is the 2023 Carrot Festival in Holtville. It actually started Friday with the Coronation Banquet. Activities begin Wednesday with the traditional Cooking Contests. The Little Chefs and Junior Chefs compete at St. Paul's Lutheran Church beginning at 5:30 pm. Thursday the Carrot Festival Midway Carnaval opens at 3 pm. The Carnaval will be set up at Holt and 6th Street.. The Cooking Contest will feature adults at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 5:30 pm. On Friday, in addition to the Carnaval, will be the Kickoff Concert on the corner of Holt and 5th Street, Featuring Pure Majick. It is free and begins at 7:00 pm. Beer and Tacos will be sold. Saturday is a busy day, with the Mile and 5K Races beginning at 7 am. The Street and Crafts Fair begins at 8 am. The Carrot Festival Parade begins at 10 am. The Student Art Show begins at 11 am. Parade awards begin at 11:30 am. The School Drumline Competition at the Gazebo begins at 12 noon. The Carnaval will be open from noon to 11 pm Saturday. Sunday it all wraps up with the Street and Crafts fair at 10 am. The Carnaval opens at 11 am Snday.
