A traffic accident early Sunday morning involved donkeys in the roadway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 6:10 a.m. Sunday on Highway 78 near Milpitas Wash. The driver was northbound on the highway when he hit three donkeys that were on the roadway. The driver was not injured but the donkeys were not so fortunate. The roadway was partially blocked for a short time.
