Updated numbers of COVID 19 cases indicate the surge may be on. COVID numbers are released by the County Public Health Department. The latest numbers were released Thursday morning. According to the updated numbers, there are now 420 active cases of COVID 19 in Imperial County. That is up from the 386 cases reported on Tuesday. The COVID 19 Tier Metrics for Imperial County are now at 19.20 new cases per day per 100,000 population with a positivity rate of 13.1%. Fatalities attributed to the virus remain at 958. Officials highly recommend residents get the second booster vaccine. They say if you test positive for COVID, stay at home and treat the symptoms. If the symptoms are severe, go to the hospital.. They say there is medication that can greatly reduce hospitalization or even death as a result of the virus.
