The Imperial County Narcotics Task Force received a call for assistance from an allied agency Thursday and that led to a big score of fentanyl.

According to NTF Commander John Seaman, ICNTF agents recovered an abandoned tire Thursday. The tire was stuffed with about 6.25 pounds of fentanyl pills. ICNTF estimated that there were over 28,000 pills in the tire. Commander Seaman said, " Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid similar to morphine but 50 to 100 times stronger". Seaman added that if you come across any suspicious pills, do not handle them and call 9 1 1 immediately.
