The State Auditor's Report on The City of Calexico)....The report was issued this week.

It was delivered to the Calexico City Council. According to the fact sheet issued by the State Auditor, Past overspending and Ongoing Administrative Deficiencies Limit the City of Calexico's ability to serve the public. As backgrounbd to the Audit, the state said in recent years, Calexico has been one of California's cities most at risk of fiscal distress. The city's past overspending depleted its General Fund, and although it is no longer in a deficit, limited financial resources and significant future liabilities constrain its operation. The Audit Fact Sheet lists Key Risks to include Calexico not taking steps to help ensure financial stability. The cities lack of a robust, accessible budget process, and Calexico's unresolved administrative deficiencies have led to frozen grant funds and compromised the city's operations. After recieving the Audit, the Calexico City Council recognized the findings and financial challenges. In their statement, the Council said under the direction of City Manager Esperanza Colio Warren, the recommendations in the Audit report will be taken into consideration when developing and implementing an action plan to remediate and past practices that have placed a financial burden on City operations. The City Council plans on discussing the audit report at their November 1st Council meeting
