U.S. Border Patrol agents seized nearly three-quarters of a million dollars' worth of methamphetamine last week.

There were two incidents at the Highway 86 checkpoint that resulted in the action. The first incident occurred when a 2015 SUV approached the checkpoint and was referred to the secondary inspection lane. A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the vehicle and an inspection led to the discovery of over 103 of methamphetamine hidden in the quarter panels and the spare tire. The drugs have a value estimated at over $228,000.  The driver, a 36-year-old man, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Later last week, a 2015 Freightliner approached the checkpoint. The truck was r4ferred to secondary inspection where a K-9 team alerted to the attached trailer. Agents inspected the trailer and found nearly 234 pounds of methamphetamine with a value of nearly $514,000. The driver, a 50-year-old man, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
