(Quick acting fire crews)…A brush fire was reported near Campo Sunday.

The fire was reported at just after 1:00 in the afternoon and briefly threatened structures in the area. It was located north of Interstate 8, near Old Highway 80. Fire crews were quick to act. They stopped the fire before it could reach any of the structures. Officials say the blaze burned about 11 and a half acres before it was extinguished. Cal Fire used air tankers and helicopters to stop the fire. Crews spent several hours putting out hot spots to ensure the fire did not rekindle.
