U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City made a major drug seizure Friday morning.

According to the Border Patrol , a 60-year old man driving a 1991 pick up truck approached the checkpoint where a canine team alerted to the truck. In secondary inspection agents discovered sealed packages concealed in a false wall compartment in the front of the truck bed. The packages were tested and found to contain methamphetamine , heroin , and cocaine. A total of 23.31 pounds of meth , 33.68 pounds of heroin and 2.4 pounds of cocaine ws seized with a total value estimated at nearly $425,000. The man , a lawfully admitted permanent resident of the U.S. , was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
