(CHP goes into Maximum Enforcement Friday)…The Labor Day Maximum Enforcement Period will continued throughout the 3-day weekend
Labor Day Weekend is considered the last Holiday weekend of the summer. This year’s Labor Day Maximum Enforcement coincides with the National drunk driving enforcement crackdown, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. The California Highway Patrol says over the last Labor Day Weekend 49 people were killed in collisions on California Roadways. That is a forty percent increase over the year before. They say 70% of those killed were not wearing a seatbelt. The Highway Patrol says to keep the roadways safe, do not drink and drive, buckle up, drive at a legal speed and avoid distractions. Maximum Enforcement begins at 6:00 pm Friday and continues until 11:59 Monday night.
