(Unemployment up slightly)…The July Jobless numbers were released Friday morning.
They are the latest numbers available from the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. The Imperial County Unemployment Rate for July was 24.7 percent, up from the revised 23.7 percent in June, and below the year ago estimate of 26.9 percent. According to the report 19,800 eligible workers were unemployed in Imperial County out of a labor force of 80,400 in July. The local jobless rate compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 7.8 percent for the state and 6.5 percent for the nation during the same period.
