(County accepts first allocation of a 3 year grant)…The 3-year grant is an extension of 20 year funding.
The funding is for the local Tobacco Coalition. The California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Control Program approved the 3-year, $450,000 grant. It began July first and is allotted in $150,000 increments. Imperial County Public Health Director Robin Hodgkin told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday this allotment would be used to re-activate the youth coalition. The coalition works towards controlling the sale of tobacco products. Hodgkin said the new e-cigarettes would now be part of that focus.
