(Contract to sell Solar Energy to Southern California Edison)….It is two 20-year power purchase agreements.
Silver Ridge Power LLC and 8minutenergy Renewables LLC signed the agreements to sell 406 megawatts of solar energy from the Mount Signal Solar Farm 2 and Mount Signal Solar Farm 5. Construction of the solar farms is expected to employ 1,500 people. There could be a problem, or at least a snag in the plans. District 3 County Supervisor Mike Kelley said this week that he has been told by local growers that part of the land under consideration for the proposed solar farms is on prime farm land. Kelley said it was never intended to take prime farmland out of production to be used for solar farm development. Kelley said he would have the local growers discuss their concerns with the full board at a future date.
