(Storms hit Imperial County Sunday.)….Damage was mostly in the North County.
That damage was road damage and mudslides. There are reports 1-2 inches of rain fell in the North County and into Riverside and East San Diego County. Mudslides were reported on Highway 78, from near Campo to Walters Camp Road. A vehicle was discovered Monday morning buried in mud up to its windshield near Walters camp Road. The California Highway Patrol says they feel the vehicle was caught in the wash near the area Sunday night. Highway 78 was closed from Ogilby Road to the County line. Highway 98 was also closed in the Ocotillo area. S-2 was closed in the Sp[lit Mountain area. Debris was also washed onto Highway 111 causing some problems. The Imperial Irrigation District says there were few, if any, power outages during the storm. The National Weather Service says the monsoon conditions are moving out of the region. They say the storm conditions could return Friday afternoon.
