Excessive heat may have claimed one life

(Death may have been heat related)…Temperatures reached 117 degrees Thursday.

Deputy County Coroner Rodolfo Barron says 58-year-old Paula Munoz was found unresponsive near the Best Western Motel in Brawley.. She was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital exhibiting symptoms of heat exhaustion. Munoz died at the Hospital. Barron said while it is suspected the death was heat related, an autopsy would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
