(Reminders to all)…Do not drink and drive, buckle up and don’t try to bring fireworks across the Border.
Those are the messages this holiday weekend. The California Highway Patrol went into their Holiday Maximum Enforcement Friday evening. They will remain on the roadways in full force until 11:59 Sunday night. The CHP says they will especially be on the lookout from drunk or impaired drivers and seatbelt violations. Customs and Border Protection is reminding everyone that it is illegal to try and cross the border with fireworks purchased in Mexico. Even if properly declared at the Port of Entry, the fireworks will be seized, without penalty. If they are discovered without being declared, the CBP can seize the contraband, seize the vehicle and fine the driver the same value of the fireworks.
