(Narcotics found in abandoned vehicle)…The California Highway Patrol made the discovery earlier this week.
A CHP officer spotted an abandoned 1998 Ford Explorer on the right shoulder of northbound Highway 86, south of Fredericks Road. The officer noticed signs of drug trafficking and requested a K-9 unit. The Border Patrol sent their K-9. The dog alerted to the vehicle. A search resulted in the discovery of 71 pounds of heroin and 22 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the Ford. The street value of the heroin was set at $710,000. The meth was valued at approximately $147,500. The case was turned over to the Imperial County Narcotics Task Force for further investigation.
