(Imperial County not eligible for the Essential Air Service program)….That was the Department of Transportation ruling this week.
That means the County is no longer eligible for a $13 million subsidy. The County lost eligibility after they dropped below the required 10 passengers per service day, as required by the Federal Aviation Administrations Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. Local officials and Seaport Airlines are meeting to develop an appeal to the decision. That appeal must be filed within 30 days of the decision.
