(Woman found with 25 pounds of methamphetamine)…She was arrested at the Andrade Port of Entry.
The Customs and Border Protection say the 32-year-old Yuma resident was attempting to drive a 2001 Ford Escape into the US from Algodones. The CBP officer referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area. They say a canine team screened the vehicle and the narcotics detector dog alerted to the driver’s side rear side door. A physical search resulted in the discovery of 24 wrapped packages concealed inside both of the SUV’s rear doors. The packages field-tested positive for methamphetamine, with a street value of around $165,000. The woman, a citizen of Mexico and lawful US resident, was placed under arrest. She was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations agents for processing. She was then booked into County Jail. The CBP placed an immigration hold on the woman to initiate deportation from the US at the conclusion of her criminal proceedings. The CBP seized the vehicle and the narcotics.
