(Don’t go to Mexico with expired tags)….The California Highway Patrol has issued the warning.
They say vehicles found with expired tags could be an expensive ordeal. Mexican law enforcement has been authorized to fine drivers of vehicles with expired tags up to $1,000 and they could even impound the vehicle. Mexico actually passed the law two years ago. The law sets the criteria for legally driving a vehicle in Mexico. One of the criteria is that the vehicle license be up to date. Customs agents could seize the vehicle violating the criteria as they enter the country. The law has been in effect for two years, but enforcement has increased in recent months.
