( New data released on school graduation rates)…It was released by the California Department of Education.

The data is known as the 2016-2017 Four Year Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rates, or ACGR. For Imperial County, the Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate is 87.1 percent. This is 4.4 percent higher than the California ACGR at 82.7 percent. 30.9 percent of Imperial County Graduates met the UC/CSU Graduation requirements, known as a-g criteria. This is lower than the state percentage of 49.9 percent. Additionally, 19 percent of Imperial County students  earned a Golden State Seal Merit Diploma and 11% earned a Seal of Biliteracy. State percentages come in at 24% and 10.9% respectively. County Superintendent of Schools Todd Finnell said there are some highlights in the new data, but there was still work to be done.
