(Former state Senator to be honored by Mexican Government)…Denise Moreno Ducheny is set to receive an Ohtli prize.
The honor is bestowed for service to Mexicans living abroad. Moreno Ducheny is currently a senior policy advisor at the Center for US/Mexico Studies at the University of California San Diego. She had served in the Assembly, representing San Diego, then in the State Senate, representing parts of San Diego and all of Imperial County. She termed out in 2010. The award was announced by Mexico’s Ambassador to the United States Eduardo Medina Mora. Moreno Ducheny was nominated for the award by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials. The award will be presented at a conference later this month. Efrain Silva was presented a similar award not long ago by the Mexican Consulate in Calexico.
