(Harrier Jet crash under investigation)….The military is trying to determine what caused the Harrier AV-8B to go down in Imperial.
The investigation may take some time. Wednesday’s crash was the second Harrier to go down in a month. In early May a Harrier, also stationed at MCAS in Yuma, went down in the Gila Reservation in Arizona. That pilot also ejected safely. The Marines are continuing to investigate that crash. Wednesday’s crash destroyed two homes and damaged a third. No injuries were reported, however, families were displaced. Some politicians are saying the crash Wednesday could jeopardize the future of the Harrier AV-8B. Hearings have already been held on the safety of the controversial jet.
