(A new way to enter Mexicali)…3 new traffic lanes opened as planned

Tuesday morning. The new lanes are not expected to alleviate traffic congestion going into Mexico. In fact, sources say it may get worse. The 3 lanes were opened because the new expanded Port on the Mexican side of the border is ready to open. Lanes going north will be open in September, when the renovated Port on the US side is ready to open. Traffic congestion is expected until at least March of next year. That is when Cesar Chavez Boulevard is expected to be widened and renovated. Cesar Chavez will be the new entrance and exit point for the renovated Port in Calexico. Work on the renovation of Cesar Chavez Boulevard is just getting underway.
