The Entity functions to make grants and provide funds in order to help off-set socioeconomic impacts resulting from land fallowing implemented within the Imperial Irrigation District water service territory in furtherance of the Quantification Settlement Agreement and related agreements. Coordinators said at the Tuesday IID Board meeting there 84 proposals submitted. They were read and scored by outside readers. They said the amount of the requests were reduced to allow for a greater number of awards. 14 business development requests were granted, along with 7 Special Projects, including the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert, Boys and Girls Club, the IV Desert Museum, Brawley Community Foundation and several school districts, as well as The Imperial County Office of Education. Those who did not receive an award can file an appeal within 20 days beginning May 15th.
