(Indio couple arrested)…They were trying to smuggle drugs across the Border.
The husband was driving a Ford F-250 pick-up Tuesday. After entering the East Port of Entry, the vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection area. Once the inspection began, a k-9 alerted to the driver’s wife. The woman was searched and Customs and Border Protection officers found packages of methamphetamine tapped to her torso and chest area. The drugs were valued at $40,000. The husband and wife were determined to be US citizens. They were placed under arrest and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations agents. After they were processed, the two were booked into County Jail. The vehicle and narcotics were seized by Customs and Border Protection.
