(21 year old Chicago man caught with drugs)…Edward Castillo was arrested recently at the Downtown Calexico Port.
Castillo was walking across the border carrying a backpack and a suitcase. Customs and Border Protection officers say the man appeared nervous when questioned about the suitcase. Inside the suitcase was a cot made of wood and burlap. Officers took x-rays of the cot and discovered anomalies in the wooden portion. Inside the wood the officers found 3.16 pounds of cocaine, valued at $41,000 and 11.35 pounds of methamphetamine, with a street value of 474,000. Castillo claimed he was paid $400 to cross the suitcase into the United States. He was arrested and booked into County Jail. The CBP seized the narcotics.
