(Union wants Supervisors to intervene)….The California United Home Healthcare Union attended Tuesday Board meeting.
Several Members of the Union also spoke to the Board. The Union is currently in negotiations with the County. The Home Healthcare workers currently are paid $9.00 per hour. They want a $1.00 pay increase. They also want better health benefits. The County has offered a .23-cent pay increase. After several workers spoke to the Board, mostly in Spanish through a translator, they convinced at least one Supervisor. Chairman John Renison told the workers he was deeply concerned, and he supported the $1.00 pay increase. The Counties General Counsel, Michael Rood, suggested the Supervisors not comment on the public comments. Renison said he had to say what he felt, even if he was chastised after the meeting.
