(Two killed in off-road collisions)….Both tragedies were reported over the weekend.
Deputy Coroner Steven Green says a 15 year old from Castle Rock, Colorado was killed in a head-on collision. Green said an ATV and a Sand rail were traveling in opposite directions about a mile from Gecko Road. As they approached each other, both swerved and collided head-on. In the second incident, 72-year-old David Dobbins from Bullhead City, Arizona was driving a sand rail in the deep dunes, near Wash 25. The sand rail became stuck in the sand. Dobbins got out to dig the vehicle out of the sand. The Deputy Coroner says when the passenger in the sand rail also got out of the vehicle, the sand rail rolled on top of Dobbins. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Green says autopsies on both victims will be held Tuesday to determine a cause of death.
