(Two women found dead)….Both women were found Thursday.

Chief Deputy Coroner Sergeant Charles Lucas says the incidents were separate, but with a few similarities. Both women were in their mid-60’s, Both had not been seen in a few days. And another important similarity; neither woman had air conditioning in their homes, and did not have any for some time. Lucas says the first woman was found at around 9:00 Thursday morning. The body of the 64 year old woman was found in Weist Lake. The woman had been living in a camp trailer at the Lake. Lucas said he spoke with the woman’s friends, who told him she had not been seen in a few days. The Sergeant said the victim did not have a working air conditioning unit in the trailer for a month. The body of the second woman was found in her Salton City home. The Deputy Coroner said 65 year old Elva Barrera had not been seen for days. Her air conditioning had been out for some time. Lucas said during the summer months it is imperative that family and friends check on their relatives, especially the elderly ones. Make sure they have water, food and some type of cooling system. He said autopsies will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, but Lucas said it would appear both deaths could very well be heat related.
