The Padres acquired infielder Miguel Tejada along with cash considerations from the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Wynn Pelzer. Tejada, 36, has appeared in 97 games for the Orioles this year, hitting .269 with 16 doubles, seven home runs, 39 RBI and 40 runs scored. A six-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Tejada was named the American League's Most Valuable Player following the 2002 season as a member of the A's. |
