(Years of tedious negotiation has ended)….The IID Energy Department has reached an agreement for a fuel line.

The agreement, approved by the Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors Tuesday, has taken years to negotiate. Doctor David Kolk, The District’s manager for energy supply and trading, said it was actually several contracts negotiated. He said the negotiations included tribal law, interstate law and international law. All for 1,000 feet of pipeline. The Natural gas line is to provide fuel to the Yucca Steam Plant in Yuma. The plant provides the bulk of the energy to Imperial County, while the El Centro Unit three is being repaired. Tuesday’s approval allows the IID to connect into the TransCanada natural gas line, which stretches from New Mexico, to the Arizona/California border. Down the state border in Imperial County, into Mexico and over to Ensenada, Baja California.
