(Mother and daughter who traffic together, go to jail together)…That is the philosophy of the Customs and Border Protection.

Officers at the Calexico Port of Entry arrested a mother and her daughter this week. The officers were working the Downtown Port Monday. At around 12:30 in the afternoon, officers were conducting an enforcement operation, and escorted a 2004 Ford Explorer to the secondary area. A detector dog had alerted to the vehicle. The vehicle was being driven by a 47 year old woman. Her 23 year old daughter was a passenger in the vehicle. Both were US citizens. Officers searched the vehicle and found 29 pounds of methamphetamine inside the undercarriage. The 25 packages has a street value of $300,000. The mother and her daughter, both San Jose residents, were arrested for alleged narcotic smuggling. They were turned over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation. The narcotics and the vehicle were seized by the CBP.
