(Life-Lines could be installed within a couple months)….IID General Manager was optimistic in his update.

Brian Brady Delivered the update at Tuesday’s Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors meeting. Brady said talks with the Bureau of Reclamation and the San Diego County Water Authority indicate neither entity is in any hurry to help pay for the installation of buoyed lifelines across the All American Canal. The General Manager said there can be no doubt that the All American Canal is a federal facility that the District operates and manages under a contract with the Department of the Interior. As for the San Diego County Water Authority, Brady said it is incumbent on them to do the right thing in addressing and paying for safety measures in the lined portion of the All American. Brady told the Board he would be putting a plan together, that will include cost estimates and installation plans. He said he would present that information to the Board in August. The GM said he would be recommending a definitive plan to install the safety lines in both the Lined and Unlined portions of the All American. He said he would be recommending Board approval on an expedited basis.
