(Sixtieth Anniversary of Korean conflict)….Tuesday morning the local veterans were recognized.

The ceremonies were held in front of the Courthouse in El Centro. Jr. Reclosado served as the Master of Ceremonies during the event. The special event honored National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. A plaque with the County Proclamation was presented to the Korean War Veterans by Vice Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Jack Terrazas. The full board of Supervisors adopted the County Proclamation on July 13, 2010. It called for County flags to fly at half-staff. Former County Fire Chief Benny Benavidez, also a Korean War Veteran, also spoke to the mostly veterans of the Korean Conflict. During the event, not only were the surviving vets recognized, but they also honored the 19 Imperial Valley residents who lost their lives in the Korean conflict.
