(Fuentes says County is holding its own)…Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Louis Fuentes gave the State of the County Address Wednesday evening. The Address was delivered in Rodney Auditorium at San Diego State University/Imperial Valley Campus in Calexico. In the Address, Fuentes focused mainly on economics. He said the County has been able to maintain a balanced budget without laying off any employees or major cuts to services, despite the State’s serious budget deficits. He did mention an expanded Port of Entry in Downtown Calexico, currently in the planning stages. A group of union members attended the Address and held up signs protesting recent actions by the Board of Supervisors. The protest was a silent one and did not disrupt the Address. KXO Radio plans to rebroadcast the Address at a later date.
