KXO RADIO - Candidate confirms he is in the running

(Dessert is in the race)….Matt Dessert recently said he was leaning towards running for Imperial Irrigation District Director Division 1. Thursday he told KXO Radio he would be on the June ballot. It had been rumored that Dessert would run if incumbent Mike Abatti decided not to seek another term. Dessert said Thursday his decision had been made and he would be filing this month. Abatti has said he has not decided, and probably would not make a decision for a week or two. Abatti said family and business were primary concerns, and would enter heavily on his decision, whatever it may be. Dessert is a County employee with Air Pollution Control. His family has been in Agriculture, as a seed provider and other aspects for years. Rudy Maldonado and David Ouzan have also said they would be on the June ballot for IID Director in Division 1.
