(There will be only one motto displayed)…Tony Ramos and his followers asked that two motto’s be placed in the County Board of Supervisors Chambers.

Both would say “In God We Trust.” Ramos wanted to display the motto in block letters in a square, glassed frame, similar to what was put up in Condit Auditorium for the Imperial Irrigation District. Supervisors Mike Kelley and Wally Leimgruber and County Executive Officer Ralph Cordova viewed the IID display, and decided to go another way. It was agreed at a recent Board meeting to display the motto, with a background of the American Flag and a Bald Eagle. The display would be a framed poster. Ramos went to the Supervisors Tuesday to ask that they allow him to put up his display in the Board Chambers, as well. The request died for a lack of a motion from any of the Board members.
